  10.        This release note describes patch SG0003743 to IRIX

  15.        This patch contains bug fixes for all hardware platforms.

  20.        This patch contains the FORTRAN Standard Execution
  21.        Environment, version 7.3.  This patch is required in order
  22.        to run FORTRAN f90 applications (as well as link Fortran 90
  23.        programs) on IRIX 6.2/3/4.
  24.  
  25.        This patch is made to install on a system running IRIX 6.2,
  26.        IRIX 6.3, IRIX 6.4, IRIX 6.5 and IRIX 6.5 (through IRIX
  27.        6.5.9 m/f).  The development subsystems of this patch (i.e.
  28.        ftn_dev) require the MIPSpro 7.3 Compilers. This patch will
  29.        NOT install on IRIX 6.5.x systems with MIPSpro 7.3.1.2m
  30.        since its fixes have been rolled up into MIPSpro 7.3.1.2m.

  32.        As a result, the correct way to install these patches is to
  33.        use the following command under inst(1):

  43.        SG0001969, SG0002075 and SG0002575.

  46.        SG0001630, SG0001631, SG0002016, SG0002312, SG0002483,
  47.        SG0002752, SG0002759, SG0003066, SG0003140, SG0003219,
  48.        SG0003371, SG0003587, SG0003597 and SG0003869.

  50.        This patch contains identical subsystems for ftn77_eoe and
  51.        ftn_eoe.  Depending on the compiler release installed on the
  52.        system only one of these subsystems is installable.  For
  53.        example installing the patch on a system running the MIPSpro
  54.        7.1 compiler shows patchSG0003743.ftn77_eoe_sw.lib as
  55.        installable (marked "NA") and patchSG0003743.ftn_eoe_sw.lib
  56.        as uninstallable (marked "DX").  On systems with MIPSpro 7.2
  57.        and later, or on any IRIX 6.5 system, the

  286.        Because you want to install only the patches for problems
  287.        you have encountered, patch software is not installed by
  288.        default.  After reading the descriptions of the bugs fixed
  289.        in this patch (see Section 1.3), determine the patches that
  290.        meet your specific needs.

  292.        If, after reading Sections 1.1 and 1.2 of these release
  293.        notes, you are unsure whether your hardware and software
  294.        meet the requirements for installing a particular patch, run
  295.        _i_n_s_t.  The _i_n_s_t program does not allow you to install
  296.        patches that are incompatible with your hardware or
  297.        software.

  299.        Patch software is installed like any other Silicon Graphics
  300.        software product.  Follow the instructions in your _S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e
  301.        _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n _A_d_m_i_n_i_s_t_r_a_t_o_r'_s _G_u_i_d_e to bring up the miniroot
  302.        form of the software installation tools.

  304.        Follow these steps to select a patch for installation:

  306.          1.  At the Inst> prompt, type

  351.        reinstates the original version of software unless you have
  352.        specifically removed the patch history from your system.
